Over 200 ICRWY Project step-by-step reading and spelling lessons with Miss Emma, The Reading Whisperer®. Just follow along! Also use the SSP Spelling Piano app to reinforce the foundation of phonic knowledge acquired during Phase 1 and 2. No prior training is required, so perfect for parents and tutors! Enjoy the Braintree Forest Learning Code Level and Code Mapped® Code Level readers
The SSP I Can Read Without You (ICRWY) Project app replaces the previous app for Parents and is free to download and access various free resources. Subscribers to our program can access the sections marked S.
There are also around 40 Core SSP phonics and high-frequency word lessons included, all created by Miss Emma, The Reading Whisperer, for those using The Speech Sound Pics (SSP) Approach and involved with the I Can Read Without You (ICRWY) Project.
The One, Two, Three and Away! and Griffin Pirate books by Sheila McCullagh are read and explored within the ICRWY Project along with Code Level (decodable) readers. Village with Three Corners books and others are not introduced until the learners have the skills to move to these texts, with a solid underlying understanding of English orthography. They offer a transition between decodable readers and authentic text reading and improve spelling skills as more phoneme to grapheme correspondences are explored.
The ICRWY Project seeks to move more learners into the self-teaching phase as quickly as possible, even when participating in whole-class teaching (and differentiation is essential) This is now even easier with the ICRWY Grapheme Code Mapping® Tool! You will need the Teaching Kit for optimum learning outcomes.
Follow along with the Braintree Forest Learning pre-school project, and explore words connected to farm and forest - we love learning outdoors.
Miss Emma has a Masters Degree in Special Educational Needs and is undertaking doctoral work in the UK, with a research focus on early interventions for neurodivergent learners eg those with ADHD, ASD and Dyslexia. She has developed the SSP ICRWY and ICSWY systems for teaching neurotypical (including non-verbal) AND neurodivergent learners to read and spell TOGETHER by using Speech Sound Pictographs within a Speech to Print Approach. This system can be used with non-verbal learners, because of the Speech Sound Monsters! Alternatives to phonetic symbols, and easy to use as SOUND picture embedded mnemonics!
